Abbyshire Place BingoAs our country is struggling with the horrific outcomes of COVID-19, our medical facilities continue to take a tragic hit, and is changing the routines, and livelihood of residents in hospitals and long term care facilities.

We here at Abbyshire Place take such love and pride in our jobs, and strive daily to make this difficult moment in time as safe and tolerable as possible for our residents and staff members. We continue to practice social distancing and wear PPE such as gloves, masks, goggles, face shields, and medical gowns to help prevent the spread of COVID. Make sure to wash hands with soap and water anytime you come in contact with residents or their possessions. Hand sanitizer is also encouraged to be used Several times throughout the day especially when soap and water is not near.

Activities during COVID can come to be a Challenge at times for Residents, especially those who long for physical contact, such as hugs and hand holding. Residents look forward to activities on a daily basis. One good thing that has come from COVID-19 is we have more time to do One on One visits with our residents, which sometimes is strongly needed.

Each morning we pass out fresh hot coffee and snacks to each resident that wants one. They also receive a daily news letter along with a word puzzle or coloring page, and a daily food menu. There is a variety of activities that our residents enjoy, such as Hallway bingo, (which is a favorite), listening to music and exercise.

I hope this will be helpful. If you want to learn more about our activities or have any ideas to share please reach out to me.
